Hendricks and Salazar Earn HCAC Athlete of the Week Honors
Gabe Hendricks (Fort Wayne, Ind., Bishop Luers) and Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind., Plymouth) earned Athlete of the Week honors from the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) on Monday, January 23.
HCAC Indoor Track & Field Notebook, Week 3
Gabe Hendricks was named the HCAC Male Field Athlete of the Week for the second week in a row this indoor season after his performance at the Larry Cole Invitational hosted by Ohio Northern. Hendricks broke his own school record in the weight throw by 0.13 meters after placing second with a distance of 16.45 meters on Friday night. Hendricks also placed third overall in shot put with a distance of 15.26 meters. Hendricks' distance in the shot put also placed him third all time in school history.
Enrique Salazar was named the HCAC Male Track Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Larry Cole Invitational. Salazar won the men's one mile event with a time of 4:19.75, the top time in the conference this week.
The men's and women's indoor track and field teams will be back in action on Saturday, February 4 when they travel to Anderson to compete at the AU Invite starting at 1:00 p.m.
