The Grace College athletic department is pleased to announce the four newest members of the Lancer Hall of Fame.
The 2022 induction class will include: Don Cramer, Gary Grove, Leon Brenneman and Jocelyn DeLange (Evans). The group will be the 16th class in Grace's Hall of Fame. They will be honored at the annual Hall of Fame breakfast on Saturday at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.
"It's exciting to honor Grace's rich athletic history," said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. "This is an accomplished group of people who have added much to Grace Athletics. They deserve to be recognized for their contributions to our institution."
Cramer coached Grace's men's tennis team for a decade between 1972 and 1982. He helped the Lancers to four conference championships and also coached Grace's first undefeated team in 1973. Additionally, he coached Grace's first NAIA qualifier in 1978.
Grove was a standout on Grace's men's basketball team from 1964-67. He is a member of Grace's exclusive 1,000-point, 1,000-rebound club, tallying 1,627 career points and 1,096 career boards. He holds the record for most rebounds in a game (33) and most rebounds per game in a season (16.0 rpg).
Brenneman was a player on the men's tennis squad from 1985-89. Brenneman was a three-time All-Conference honoree and also was named NAIA All-District three times. He was part of Grace's first tennis team to make the NAIA National Championships (1988).
DeLange (Evans) was an accomplished midfielder for Grace's women's soccer team from 2009-12. She was named the league's Midfielder of the Year in 2011 and was a three-time All-League player. She earned honorable mention status for NAIA All-American in 2011 and helped Grace make three trips to the NCCAA National Championships.
"We want to thank those individuals who have brought much distinction and honor to Grace College and have established a tradition of Christian excellence which is incomparable," Briscoe continued. "These achievements have touched everyone associated with Grace College both in and out of the arena of athletics."
