Grace earns Presidential, #KingChasing honors from NCCAA

Grace College's athletic department earned two national awards at the annual NCCAA national convention.

Grace repeated as the NCCAA Presidential Award for the second straight year, and the school was also named a finalist for the inaugural #KingChasing award.

The Presidential Award recognizes the top athletic department for the school year. It is calculated based on team finishes at NCCAA national championship events. Grace had a memorable year at NCCAA competition, claiming five national championships.

The fall sports season saw Grace earn three NCCAA championships, including men's cross country, women's cross country and women's soccer. In the spring, the Lancers claimed two more titles with men's track and field as well as men's tennis. Grace amassed 113.5 total points in the school year, which was 38.5 points more than the second-place finisher Bethel.

The #KingChasing award emphasizes the mission of the NCCAA, which is to keep Christ at the center of the student-athlete experience. Schools are awarded points for the #KingChasing program by showcasing their commitment to the NCCAA's four pillars of love, integrity, faith and excellence. Houghton College won the inaugural award with Grace finishing as the runner-up.

"These awards are a direct reflection of the tremendous work throughout the year put in by our coaches and student athletes," said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. "I deeply appreciate the support from our administration at Grace which allows our programs the opportunity to compete on the national level. We thank the Lord for the platform to make Christ known through athletics."
